Dr. Mary Moorman
Theology Instructor
Dr. Mary C. Moorman completed her graduate work in medieval systematic theology at Yale and Southern Methodist University, where she studied under Bruce Marshall. She also holds a Juris Doctorate in religious legal systems from Boston University. She has lectured in both law and religion at Boston University, Southern Methodist University, and the University of New Haven.
In addition to serving frequently as a conference and radio speaker, she has appeared as a guest on Franciscan University Presents, The Journey Home, Kresta in the Afternoon, and The Art of Catholic.
Her academic research has been presented at the 16th Century Society and the American Academy of Religion. Her most recent articles have appeared in The Journal of Religion, Conflict, and Peace, The Wesleyan Theological Journal, and the anthology Seeing the Medieval: Realms of Faith and Visions for Today. Her book Indulgences: Luther, Catholicism, and the Imputation of Merit was published in 2017 by Emmaus Academic Press.
Dr. Moorman is a member of the Academy of Catholic Theology affiliated with the Dominican House of Studies in Washington DC, and she continues to pursue her research interests in ecclesiology, atonement theories, and evangelization in the modern context. She resides with her family in Texas, where they enjoy the outdoors, cooking, being together with friends, and applauding her dear husband’s music production.
