If you’re ready to apply what you’ve already learned as a theology or a philosophy major and demonstrate mastery of the Church’s teaching, our 36-credit Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) provides excellent preparation for careers both in the Church and professional world.
You’ll learn from noted experts and authors such as Dr. Scott Hahn, Dr. John Bergsma, Dr. Michael Waldstein, and more, developing excellent written and verbal communication skills that will allow you to proclaim and witness the Gospel with clarity, conviction, and intelligence.
Plus, as with all of our on-campus theology degrees, you’ll have the opportunity to pursue a catechetics specialization and canon law track—giving you the necessary expertise to reach God’s people in the unique way he’s called you!
“I love Franciscan. I consider it the best Catholic university in America. At Franciscan the mind and heart are free. The faith illumines the intellect, and the authentic quest for knowledge is truly alive. My time here gave me a deep reservoir of intellectual and spiritual formation, and I draw upon that reservoir even today as I make difficult decisions. I received so many wonderful gifts from this institution. It’s a place that changes lives and is changing the world.”
